Elbert Brewer - Class Of 1941

Elbert E. "Ab" Brewer, 67, of Burrows, died unexpectedly at 9:12 p.m. Dec. 8, 1990, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He was hospitalized Dec. 7. Born Oct. 8, 1923, in Delphi, he was the son of Harry and Myrtle Hermes Brewer. His marriage was on Jan. 13, 1943, in Delphi, to A. Louise Goyer, who survives. He retired in 1966 from the Penn Central Railroad at Logansport, and then worked for the Iron Workers Local 379 at Lafayette, retiring in 1985. He was Liberty Township trustee for the past 16 years. He attended Delphi schools and was a World War II veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Army in the European Theater and also served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Burrows Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge 211 at Camden, Delphi American Legion Post 75, VFW Post 379b at Logansport, Carroll Chapter 475, Order of Eastern Star, Indiana Sheriffs Association, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans 53 of Cass County. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Larry Brewer of Mancos, Colo., and Stephen Brewer of Bringhurst; three sisters, Mary Wray and Helen Hayden, both of Delphi, and Alice King of Riverview, Fla.; four grandchildren and erne great granddaughter. Services were today at Horn Funeral Home with Pastor Leland Reel officiating. Burial was in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Delphi, with military rites by the Delphi American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.
