Albert Burkle

Albert E. Burkle, 74, died at 2:40 PM Thursday, Dec. 13, 1990, in the St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center emergency room. He was born March 17, 1916, in Tippecanoe County. He married Margaret L. Martin, in Morocco, Feb. 22, 1941; she survives. Mr. Burkle graduated from Rossville High School 1934 and served with the Third Army in Europe during World War II. He was awarded five battle stars and the Bronze Star. Mr. Burkle owned and operated the Burkle Plumbing and Heating Co. in Delphi for more than 25 years. The company is now the Hildebrandt Plumbing and Heating Co. From 1974 until 1984, Mr. Burkle was an engineer for the Delphi Community School Corp. He also was supervisor for the corporation in the building of the new Delphi Middle School. He was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi, was a charter member of the Delphi Lions Club, and was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post, Mr. Olive Masonic Lodge, the Delphi IOOF Lodge, and the Wabash and Erie Canal Association. Surviving with his wife are a son, Martin A. Burkle of Muncie; a sister, Martha (Mrs. Earl) Humbarger of rural Lafayette; two brothers, John Burkle and Elwood Burkle, both of rural Rossville; and three grandchildren. --
