Donal Rush - Class Of 1942

Donal L. Rush, 91, of Brookston died at 3:35 pm, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born March 18, 1924 in Carroll County to the late John Raymond and Ruby (Hufty) Rush. He attended Pittsburg, Delphi, and Brookston Schools and served in the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Upon his Honorable discharge from the Army, Don returned to his home and family in Carroll County and worked as a mechanic at the John Deere Wolcott and Monticello Implements, drove a bulk milk truck for 20 years, 365 days a year. He also farmed.

He was very mechanically inclined and would help anyone in need. He was loved by his family, friends, and numerous pets. He spent the majority of his time enjoying the outdoors and maintaining the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of 66 years; 3 children, Neal (Kathleen) Rush of Indianapolis, Larry (DonnaLynn) Rush of Brookston, Donnadee Roy of Brookston; daughter-in-law, Cathi Rush of Lafayette; 6 grandchilden, Troy (Lisa) Rush, Donal "Trent" (Kathy) Rush, Traci Rush, Joshua (Ashley) Rush, Kyle Rush, Benjamin Trey Roy; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlin, Taya, and Megan Rush.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond and Ruby (Hufty) Rush and a son, Donal Jerome "Jerry" Rush.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston.

Funeral service at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Sarah Gengler of the Brookston Federated Church and Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating.

Interment will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery in rural Brookston, east of town.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Donal's name to Spring Creek Cemetery, in care of Larry Hartzler as Don served on the board and proudly cared for the cemetery for over 30 years.
