Leonard Clawson - Class Of 1919

Leonard H. Clawson, 89, formerly of Rt. 4, Delphi, died at 3:15 a.m. April 13, 1991, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he had been a patient since April 8. Born May 18, 1901, in Radnor, he was the son of Harvey Lewis and Ella Ashba Clawson. His marriage was on Oct. 25,1919, in Delphi, to Hannah I. Ridder, who died Sept. 27, 1977. He then married Lena Lempster Mennsen on Nov. 29,1980, in Pyrmont. She died July 1,1986. He was a long-time Carroll County farmer, retiring in 1964. He also had been a bus driver for Madison Township Schools and Delphi Community schools. He was the oldest member of the Radnor United Methodist Church and had been a member longer than anyone else in the church. He was a member and former secretary of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, a member of IOOF Lodge 48 in Delphi; and had been a member of the former Welcome Inn Grange 28 at Radnor. Surviving are two daughters, Leila Humberd of Warsaw and Kathleen Cleaver of Rt. 4, Delphi; a son, Wayne L. Clawson of Rt. 4, Delphi; two sisters, Florence Porter of Rt. 1, Bringhurst, and Chestine Witter of Ockley; a brother, Fred Clawson, of Flora; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two step great grandsons; one great-great grandson; and one step great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Services were Tuesday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Stoops officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Rt. 1, Flora. Delphi
