Harry Shaffer - Class Of 1943

Harry “Herb” Shaffer Jr., 90, of rural Delphi, died Sat.-July 4, 2015 at 12:30pm at his home. He was born June 10, 1925 in Flora, to the late Harry Sr., & Dot Allen Shaffer. His marriage was to Beverlee J. Morrison in Delphi, on Aug. 22, 1948, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 1981. He was a 1943 graduate of Delphi High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He farmed all of his life in Carroll County, Madison Township, raising cattle, and milking them. He attended the Delphi United Methodist Church, and was a 70 year member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and their card club. He was a longtime blood donor, giving many gallons over the years. Surviving: sons-Mark & Susan Shaffer of Avon, Scott & Brenda Shaffer of Kingwood, TX; daughter in law-Cheryl Johnson Shaffer of Flora; grandchildren: Chad & Tess Shaffer, Tori A. Shaffer, Dillon Shaffer, Carter Shaffer; 4 great grandchildren; 2 nephews: Sam Horine, Don Shaffer; 1 niece: Karen Shaffer; special friends: Charles & Maureen Johnson of Flora. Preceded in death by a son Todd Shaffer; 2 brothers John & Tom; a sister Josephine. Services: Friends may call Mon.-July 13 from 11am until his funeral at 2pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial at Zion Citizens Cemetery, rural Carroll County. Carroll County Honor Guard providing military rites.
