Eugene "Jack" Walters - Class Of 1939

Eugene F. "Jack" Walters, 70, of Rt. 2, Delphi, died at 1:10 a.m. Nov. 30, 1991 in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Born Jan. 13, 1921, in Carroll County, he was the son of Cull and Bessie Sneathen Walters. His marriage was on June 4, 1945, in San Diego, Calif., to Carlee Osborn, who died April 12,1990. He was a graduate of Delphi High School and a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for 15 years in maintenance at the Logansport State Hospital, and following his retirment, worked at the former Brosman’s IGA in Delphi. He also had formerly worked several years in maintenance at the Pittsburg Elementary School and had worked on the Fred O’Farrell Farms in Carroll County. He was a former Delphi Little League coach and had coached fifth and sixth grade basketball at the Pittsburg School. He attended the Delphi Christian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Leanne Aldrich of Delphi; five brothers, William "Bill" Walters, Gerald Junior Walters and Kenneth Lee Walters, all of Delphi; Donald Walters of Camden; and Robert Walters of Florida. He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, a brother, and a sister. Services were Monday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating. Burial was in Morning Heights Cemetery, Rt. 3, Delphi. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or Cancer Association.
