Birth: Sep. 22, 1922 Carroll County Indiana, USA Death: Nov. 26, 1944, Germany "The Delphi Citizen," Delphi, Indiana, Page 1, Thursday, December 14, 1944 ROBERT EDWIN GEE, DELPHI, INDIANA BOY, KILLED IN ACTION IN GERMANY "War Department informs Wife That Her Husband Was Killed On November 26" Robert Edwin Gee, a Delphi boy, was killed in action in Germany, November 26, 1944. Mrs. Doris Thiess Gee received the word from the War Department on Saturday. The notice of his death came on December 9, just two years to the day after he had entered the service in 1942. He received his training at Camp Howze, Texas and Camp Clairborne, Louisiana. At the time of his death he was serving with General Patton's Third Army in Germany. Confirmation of his death and a card of sympathy were received from General Marshall Wednesday morning. Memorial services will be held at the Methodist Church here Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The church choir will sing and the public is invited. Members of the American Legion will attend in a body. Pfc. Gee was born in Delphi, Indiana on September 22, 1922, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Gee. He attended the local schools until the death of his mother in October 1939, after which he made his home in Miami, Florida, with his aunt and uncle, Auda Gee Studebaker and Harvey E. Studebaker. He was graduated from the Edison High School in Miami, Florida, after which he returned to Delphi, Indiana (Carroll County) and was employed at the aluminum plant at Lafayette, Indiana, until he entered the military service.
