Donna Draper (Simmons) - Class Of 1944

Donna Simmons, 75, of Lafayette, formerly of Delphi, died at 1:53 p.m. Sept. 19, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. Born Feb. 10, 1925, in Flora, she was the daughter of Donald D. and Myrtle Sibray Draper. She was a 1944 graduate of Delphi High School. Her marriage was on March 10, 1946, in Pittsburg to Bobby Simmons. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1990. She retired from CTS Corp., Microelectronics Division, in West Lafayette, and was working in the Wal-Mart photo lab in Lafayette. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Home Rebekah Lodge in Lafayette, where she was past noble grand vice president of District 7 and past district president. She also was a member of Excelsior 18 L.A.P.M. of Lafayette, senior warden of Star City Lodge 6 L.E.A. of Lafayette, and an associate member of Anna Rebekah Lodge 137 of San Diego, Calif. She and her husband were among the original organizers of the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Flea Market and participated in flea markets throughout the Midwest. Surviving are one son, Richard Dean Simmons of San Diego; five brothers, Don Draper Jr. of Monticello, Billy J. Draper, Robert Dale Draper, and Fredrick E. Draper, all of Delphi, and Wayne Lee Draper of Brookston; three sisters, Judy Carol Mullin of Lynn, Jean Ann Sommers of Idaville, and Betty Jo Spitznagle of Delphi; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services were Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Stokes officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Flora.
