Marjorie Combs (Roland) - Class Of 1941

Marjorie M. Combs Roland, 79, of Horseshoe Bend, died unexpectedly at 12:53 p.m. Sept. 2, 2002, in the St. Elizabeth Medical Center emergency room. Born Aug. 11, 1923, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Charles and Phoebe Lamphier Combs. Her marriage was to James L. Roland on Sept. 29, 1973, in Delphi, and he survives. She did residential housecleaning in Carroll County, and was a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth and Home Hospitals in Lafayette. She also worked at the former National Homes, Lafayette, for a few years. She attended Delphi High School. She enjoyed fishing and going to garage sales. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Fogarasi of Delphi and Norma Martin of Fort Myers, Fla.; one son, Dennis Lynch of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Virginia Searcy of Williamsport and Mary Margaret Fitzsimmens of Clarks Hill; a stepson, James Roland Jr. of Rockville; four brothers, Harold Combs of Carroll County, Floyd Combs of Monticello, Charles Combs of Cutler, and Clayton Combs of Pittsburg; 17 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers. Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home. Rev. Andy Paris will officiate, and burial will be in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carroll Cunty Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
