Doris Hemmig (Nelson) - Class Of 1930

Mrs. Dora Hemmig Nelson, 49, of Ft. Wayne, died Sunday morning while visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. Nora Hemmig in Delphi. Mrs. Nelson had undergone heart surgery sometime ago and death was attributed to the malfunction of a plastic valve which had been installed at that time. Born in Ockley, January 19, 1913, she was the daughter of Phillip and Nora Loy Hemmig. Her father was at one time a superintendent of schools in this county. She was graduated Delphi high school in 1930. Her marriage on August 8, 1937 was to Harold Nelson. In Ft. Wayne she was a member of the American Association of University Women; the Phi Kappa Sigma sorority and the Christ Methodist church. Surviving with the husband are t wo daughters, Carol Ann and Mary Ellen, both at home; her mother Mrs. Nora Hemmig of Delphi; four sisters, Edith Aldridge of Delphi, Wanda Bowman of Lafayette, Louise Baer of Indianapolis and Dorothea Carmichael of California three brothers, Melvin Hemmig Ft. Wayne Floyd of LaPorte and Major Brian Hemmig of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Friends called at Eikenberry Funeral Home on Monday night. Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday morning from the Christ Methodist church in Ft. Wayne with burial in Zion Cemetery south of Delphi.
