Floyd Schrader - Class Of 1920

Floyd R Schrader, 96, formerly of Delphi, died at 8:15 p.m. Nov. 9, 1999, at the Brethren Heal t h care Center, Flora. He had been a patient there since December 1998. Born Nov. 30, 1902, in West Delphi, he was the son of Phillip and Violet Sneathen Schrader. His marriage was on Jan. 15, 1938, in West Delphi, to Ella Ruth Trent, who died Dec. 13, 1977. He attended Delphi schools and worked for the railroad for a few years. He then worked for the former Indiana Service (which became PSI, then Cinergy) for 12 years, helping in the construction of the Oak Dale Dam. He also had been employed at Delphi Body Works, and at Globe Valve for 20 years before retiring in 1968. Mr. Schrader was a member of the former Pittsburg Church of the Brethren, now Living Faith Church of the Brethren, where he was a trustee and a Sunday school teacher for several years. He was a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and took part in Delphi Senior Citizens activities. He enjoyed his family, card playing, fishing, crossword puzzles, and model making. Surviving are one son, Larry Schrader of Delphi; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Services were Friday at Abbott Funeral Home with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Delphi.
