Dr. Robert H. Shaffer in far away Bangkok, Thailand, showed a certain longing for his favorite home town Wabash River surroundings, in a letter to relatives here. Shaffer, dean of students at Indiana University, on leave of absence, has been in Thailand since February as consultant to the ministry of education in the National College of Education and at Chulalongkorn University, assisting them in installing various student personnel services. In his letter to his aunts, Mrs. Lottie Ashba and Miss Audrey Shaffer and cousins Dorthea, Mary and Howard Shaffer, he vividly describes Bangkok with its many canals, the heat, humidity, the traffic and his attempts to trade in the stores. He expects to return about June 10. He should be a popular speaker for a program here sometime.  Delphi Journal April 16, 1959
