Melvin Bowman - Class Of 1926

Melvin T. (Buck) Bowman, 75, Rt. 2, Delphi (Pittsburg), died Friday, Aug. 5, 1983, at 2:43 a m. at Home Hospital. He had been hospitalized since July 8. Born July 16, 1908, in Jasper County, his parents were George and Martha Boyles Bowman. His marriage Aug. 29, 1931, in Logansport was to Wilma Hendryx. She survives. He came to Delphi as a small boy. He retired in 1975 after 16 years as a Delphi Community Schools Corporation bus driver. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Prior to that he was a commercial fisherman and was briefly employed at Alcoa. Survivors with the wife are two sons, Jack and Tom, Pittsburg; one sister, Lillian McKay, Pittsburg; two granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-grandson. One sister preceded him in death. Services were Sunday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. John E. Hoffman officiating. Burial was in Pittsburg Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
