Clarence Downing - Class Of 1963

Clarence H. Downing, 56, of Delphi, died at 12:30 a.m. Aug. 8, 2001, at his residence. Born Jan. 13, 1945, in Delphi, he was the son of George H. and Margaret E. Clark Downing. He married Mary E. Banter on May 13, 1983, in Yeoman, and she survives. He attended Delphi High School. Mr. Downing retired after 29 years as a Class A fitter/welder at Alloy Craft/LOX ip Delphi. He was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and bowler, and was on the Ten Pin Alley bowling team in Delphi and the Sunday Bowling League in Monticello. Also surviving are two daughters, Clarissa Burge of Delphi and Malissa Allen of Camden; three stepsons, Marvin McAninch and Christopher McAninch, both of Logansport, and Gregory Alan McAninch of Delphi; two sisters, Carol Hedrick of Crawfordsville and Jean Watkins of Globe, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home with Re Donald Haase officiating. Burial was in Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville. Memorials may be made to the American Heart or American Diabetes Associations.
