Phillip Kingery

Phillip I. Kingery, 73, of 5201 N. Springboro Rd., Brookston, died at 1:35 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been in ill health since October. Born Dec. 19, 1928, in Kewanna, he was the son of Arthur and Ida May Loman Kingery. He was a 1947 graduate of Cutler High School and was in the Indiana National Guard for two years. On Nov. 13, 1948, he married Ione Henderson in Delphi, and she survives. Mr. Kingery worked 20 years for Delphi Community School Corporation in custodial services, retiring in 1991. He formerly belonged to Cutler Presbyterian Church, and for several years was the scout master for Cutler boy scouts. He enjoyed Purdue women’s basketball, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Aso surviving are two sons, James A. Kingery of Brookston, and Timothy Kingery of Delphi; two daughters, Peggy M. Ruckdeschel of Oxford, and Debra Gaul of Morgantown, W. Va.; two brothers, William Kingery of Fulton, and John Kingery of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Dolly Rife of Fulton, and Dorothy Mason of Brooklyn; his stepmother, Lena Kingery of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 5 - 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home. Services are there Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Ball Hill Cemetery in Cutler. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital Pastoral Care Div, 13500 N.
