John Sneathen - Class Of 1933

John Joe Sneathen, 68, of Pine Village, died Friday, April 29, 1983, in Home Hospital. He had been in failing health one year. Born in Delphi, he was reared and educated and spent most of his life here before moving to the Pine Village community 10 years ago. He was a painter and decorator, and had worked at Purdue University, Payne Construction Co., and R.D. Rupel and Co. Contractors 35 years, retiring in 1975. His first marriage was in 1935 to Josephine Archibald, who preceded him in death. In 1979 he was married to Harriet Eberly. He was a member of Delphi United Methodist Church. Surviving with the wife are a son, Jerry T. Sneathen of Lafayette; three daughters. Mrs. John (Darlene) Heffley of Ockley. Mrs. David (Joan) Abbott of Warsaw, and Dianna Dilly of Frankfort; one stepson, Thomas A. Eberly of Indianapolis and Ronald D. Eberly of Washington, D C.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Merle (Joan) Rolan of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Mildred Cree of Delphi; six grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Services were Monday at Oxford with interment in Pine Village Cemetery.
