Lowell Hunt - Class Of 1965

Lowell A. “Butch” Hunt, 56, of Monticello, died unexpectedly at 3:43 pm. on Feb. 25,2004, at White County Memorial Hospital. Born in Logansport on April 2, 1947, he was the son of Lowell C. and Georgia M. Felthoff Hunt. He attended Delphi High School. His marriage was to Olivia Compton on Sept. 14, 1968, in Monticello, and she survives. Mr. Hunt was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a helicopter pilot in the 101st Airborne. He received his high school diploma while in service. He owned I.D. Builders, remodeling and constructing new homes, but retired, after several years, due to ill health. He had worked for Simeon Construction of Lafayette for 10 years. Mr. Hunt lived in Delphi for most of his life. He lived for five years in Lafayette, and he and his wife moved to Monticello one and one-half years ago. He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post #75, Delphi VFW Post #9383, National Rifle Association and was serving his second term on the National Republican Congressional Committee. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and horse back riding. Also surviving are a son, Shawn Hunt of Delphi; a daughter, Misty Meinecke of Monticello; three sisters, Marcia Matlock, Pamela Farner and Leta Hunt, all of Delphi; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother. Services were Feb. 28 at Abbott Funeral Home. Burial with Delphi American Legion Military Rites, was at Masonic Cemetery.
