Betty Jean Maxwell, 73, of Delphi, died at 7:50 a.m. July 30, 2001, in Home Hospital. She had been a patient there two weeks and in ill health the past 18 months. Born Dec. 27, 1927, in Delphi, she was the daughter of Charles and Gretchen Shockey Larimore. Her marriage was on Dec. 7, 1951, in Delphi, to James M. Maxwell, who survives. Mrs. Maxwell was a 1946 graduate of Delphi High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delphi and a former member of the Gamma Gamma Nu Sorority. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and mushroom hunting. Also surviving are one son, James D. Maxwell of Delphi; two daughters, Sherri Dyer and Cindy L. Kesling, both of Delphi; five sisters, Evelyn Pritchard, Barbara Nelson, and Edith M. Isaacs, all of Delphi, and Delores Eberle and Joann VanNatta, both of Monticello; one brother, Robert Larimore of Lafayette, six grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Private family services will be held. Abbott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association, 106 Crest Dr., Delphi.
