Dick Davis - Class Of 1953

Richard “Dick” Lee Davis, 83 of Colburn passed away on Sept. 13, 2018. Dick was born on April 20, 1935 to the late Ernest Lester and Ruby Edna (Harriman) Davis in Frankfort, Indiana. He attended Delphi schools and served with the Indiana National Guard for 9 years.

He married Wilma Jean Pattengale on May 16, 1954 in Delphi and she survives.

Dick worked for Lahr Ford for 24 years and was a head custodian at Hershey, Harrison and Battle Ground schools for 15 years. He also worked as a tree trimmer for himself and Jerry Boone Tree Trimming. He mowed and maintained numerous cemeteries in the Carroll County area and the Colburn Park.

Dick was a member of Iroquois Archery in Rensselaer, the Indiana Pioneers and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Leetta Darlene Siler (Kenneth) of Colburn, Michael Dean Davis (Dawn) of Delphi and Robert Lee Davis (Marsha) of Colburn; daughter-in-law, Jane Davis Harbolt of Colburn; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and siblings: Phyllis Moore of Delphi, James Davis (June) of Delphi, Lana Weaver of FL, and Cheri Marshall (Jeff ) of FL.

He was preceded by his son, Richard “Butch” Gene Davis and his brother, Kenneth “Duke” Davis.

Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Pastor Nord Zootman officiating. Burial will follow in EUB Cemetery at Colburn. Military Graveside Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
