Josephine Schermerhorn (Fry) - Class Of 1887

Mrs. Josephine Schermerhorn Fry, 78, a member of one of Delphi’s oldest families, died at her home in Indianapolis Friday morning after an illness of several weeks. Born in Delphi on September 30, 1869, she was the daughter of Bernard Freeman and Josephine (Case) Schermerhorn. She, attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods and was married November 27, 1895, to James Harry Fry who died December 11, 1924. Surviving with the daughter, Mrs. Ben O. Aspy of Indianapolis, is one sister, Mrs. Catherine Brackenridge of Delphi. Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Patrick Mortuary in Delphi with the Rev. C. C. Reimer officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery. Those from out-of-town here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Ben O. Aspy, Mr. Hal Aspy, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schermerhorn, Mrs. Boyd Gurley and daughter, Sallie of Indianapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Englehart and son of Brazil; Josephine and William Brackenridge of Brazil; Mrs. Debetha Honess and daughter Willann of Goshen.
