Harold Peacock - Class Of 1944

Harold E. Peacock, 73, of Rockfield, died at 4 a.m. Sept. 25, 1998, at his home. Born Dec. 19, 1924, in White County, he was the son of Elmo and Wanda Hicks Bible Peacock. His marriage was on March 20, 1965, in Lafayette, to Wilma L. Neal Crank, who survives. Mr. Peacock attended school in Delphi. He worked for Lafayette Sheet Metal, and was a member of Local 20 of Lafayette, retiring in 1986. He served in the US Army during World War II as a supply sergeant, stationed in the Pacific and European theater. He also served in the Korean War and in the Indiana National Guard Reserves, retiring as a captain in the 1980s. He had been in the military service for 28 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 75 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Delphi, and the Sheet Metal Retirees Club. Also surviving are one son, Harold E. Peacock of West Lafayette; a daughter, Wanda Irvin of New Richmond; a stepdaughter, Nita Stidham of West Lafayette; his stepfather, Walter H. Bible of Lafayette; a brother, Chester Peacock; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One daughter, one son, and a sister are deceased. Services were Monday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, with Pastor William Breidenbaugh officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lafayette, with American Legion military rites.
