Barry Pearson - Class Of 1960

Barry D. Pearson, 73, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at home surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. Barry was born on December 10, 1941 in Ockley, Indiana to the late Charles and Florence Pearson. He served his country in the United States Army for several years before settling in Jesup about fifty years ago. Barry retired from the powerhouse at Rayonier Advanced Materials after thirty-four years of service. In his spare time, Barry enjoyed genealogy research, crossword puzzles and watching old westerns. He will be remembered for his “tough but tender” disposition and for the love that he showed to his family and the family toy poodle, Abby. In addition to his parents, his wife of thirty-eight years, Carolyn Kent Pearson and his son, Mark Pearson preceded him in death. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Donna Pearson and his daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Scotty Miller; his grandchildren, Levi and Logan Pearson and Macee and Camron Miller and his great grandchild, Hadley Pearson all of Jesup; his sisters, Trudy Chapman of Delphi, Indiana, Diana Shockley of Delphi, Indiana and Charlotte Scott and husband, Glenn of Sheridan, Indiana and his brother and sister-in-law, Robby and Pat Pearson of Olympia, Washington. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015 a Howard & Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Bill and Rita Harper officiating. Active pallbearers will be Logan and Levi Pearson, Booker Wilson, Ronnie Cooksey and Montgomery Cribbs. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
