Melvin Fife - Class Of 1948

Services for Melvin L. Fife, 50, 417 N. Union St., Delphi, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. He died Saturday at 6:57 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, following a four-year illness. Born in Bay City, Mich., on April 21,1930, he was the son of Emmett and Nina Pruitt Fife. He was married on May 14, 1954, to Jean Herron, who survives. A veteran of the Korean war, he attended Delphi High School, and was a retired employee of Ross Gear in Lafayette. He was commander of the Delphi VFW Post No. 9383, and a member of the Harry Bohanon Legion Post No. 75. Surviving with the wife are his parents; two sons, Larry Fife, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Bradley, at home; one daughter, Jennifer, at home; two sisters, Verna Cieryca, Kankakee, Ill.; and Margaret Plunkett, Rt. 2, Brookston. The Rev. William Heinrich will officiate at the service. Burial, with military rites, will be in Morning Height Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
