Clay Metsker - Class Of 1887

Clay W. Metsker, 79, former well known state newspaper publisher and state representative and a native of Carroll county, died of a heart attack at Plymouth Monday. A native of the Bringhurst vicinity he retired in 1940 after selling the Plymouth Democrat to the Pilot Publishing Company. He was a Democrat and was elected to the Indiana General Assembly from. Marshall county in 1900. He came to Plymouth in 1896 from Beloit, Wis., where he had published the Beloit News four years. He bought the Plymouth Independent, which later became the Democrat. He attended DePauw University and once taught school at Deer Creek and Patton. Survivors include the widow, two daughters and a son. He was a cousin of Mrs. Russell Ayres and Mrs. Lewis Craig, this city, and was widely known over Carroll county. Flora Hoosier Democrat, Flora, Indiana, August 27, 1949
