Nancy Stivers

Nancy A. Stivers, 73, of Delphi, passed away Thursday-December 16, 2021, at 5:00pm at Milner Community Healthcare in Rossville, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born April 24, 1948, in Hammond, to the late Charles & Sarah Stewart Stivers. Her marriage was to Mark L. Loomis on April 8, 1987, in Reno, NV, and he survives. She graduated from Donald E. Gabit High School in 1966, in Hammond. She received her BA from Purdue University in 1970, and her Master’s degree from Purdue in 1988. She also was involved with Purdue’s International Studies program and worked for the schools of Aeronautics and Astronautics from 1973 to 1988. She taught Special Education at Delphi Community High School from 1988 to 2010. Nancy enjoyed reading, and always wanting to try and figure out new things, like home improvements. To hanging drywall and rewiring the room she was remodeling. Completing the project like a pro. She enjoyed raising a big garden, living on the river, boating, and traveling to Mexico, the Caribbean, and a trip to Russia and other European locations. She dearly loved her husband, and extended family, and many close friends. Surviving: husband-Mark L. Loomis of Delphi; sisters-Betty & James Gray of Lowell, Patricia & Tim Kornas of Hammond, Judy & Bob Ramsey of Cedar Lake; brothers-Charles “Bill” & Sue Stivers of Vincennes, Robert “Bob” Stivers of Hammond, James & Delores Stivers of Lawrenceville, GA, Terr y Stivers of Hammond, Tom & Lei Stivers of Hammond. Several nieces and nephews survive. Preceded in death by a brother and sister in law Eddie & Donna Stivers; a niece Barbara Stivers. Services: There will be no service at this time.
