Donald Draper Jr. - Class Of 1944

Don Draper Jr., 80, of Delphi, died at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 4, 2006, at Home H o s p i t a l , Lafayette.

He had been a patient there for a few days and in ill health since April.

Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Flora, he was the son of Donald and Myrtle Mae Sibray Draper. His first marriage was to Catherine Sines on April 4, 1947, in Delphi, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 1989. His second marriage was to Virginia Staggs on Feb. 14, 1992, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2005.

He attended Delphi High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, in the Pacific Theater.

He worked for over 20 years at Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Draper was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75, attended the Yeoman United Methodist Church, and formerly belonged to I.O.O.F. Lodge 28 in Delphi.

He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking and sporting events.

Surviving are one son, Chet Draper (wife: Rebra) of Salem, Ala.; one daughter, Ruthanne Wilson (husband: Larry) of Delphi; two stepsons, Jim Staggs (wife: Brenda), and Dan Staggs, both of Monticello; four brothers, Bill Draper (wife: Pat), Bob Draper (wife: Marjorie), and Fred Draper (wife: Linda), all of Delphi, and Wayne Draper (wife: Linda) of Brookston; three sisters, Betty Jo Spitznagle of Delphi, Jean Ann Sommers (husband: Don) of Idaville, and Judy Mullin (husband: Bill) of Evansville; eight grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna, and one stepson.

Services were Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home with Rev. Rebra Draper officiating. Burial was at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg, with Delphi American Legion military rites.
