Gene Lee Clingenpeel, age 60 of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 in Lafayette.

Gene was born June 6, 1962 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Wayne and Anna (Best) Clingenpeel. He was married to Victoria Riley on February 27, 1996 in Lafayette, and she survives.

Gene was a graduate of Delphi High School. Following high school, Gene primarily worked as a cook, and retired from the Indiana Veterans Home, where he worked at a Kitchen Supervisor for 15 years.

Gene’s biggest passion was watching baseball, no matter if it was a little league team, or his favorite Chicago Cubs. He also had a great knack for salvaging and repurposing what others considered to be junk. He always kept himself busy by tearing down and rebuilding small machines, and particularly loved working on lawn mowers.

In addition to his wife, Victoria, Gene is survived by his sons, Robert (Aurora) Clingenpeel and Matthew Clingenpeel; stepdaughter, Samantha (Josh) Borga; stepsons, Jarrod Adkins and Cory (Miranda) Adkins; and niece, Michelle Clingenpeel. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren to cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in passing by his sister, Mary Clingenpeel.
