Sharon Floyd (Perez) - Class Of 1965

Sharon J. Floyd Perez, 78, of rural Lafayette, passed away Saturday-January 11, 2025, at 12:35pm, at her daughter’s home, where she had been living and taken care of, due to declining health. Sharon was born on November 30, 1946, at home in Delphi, to the late Edward G. Floyd, and Alice M. Thompson Mohler. Sharons stepmother Sue Floyd survives and lives in West Lafayette, and her stepfather Alvin Mohler preceded her in death. Sharon married the love of her life Fred Perez, in Las Vegas, NV, on September 27, 1980, and Fred passed away on August 25, 2023. They met while both were performing in a play/musical “Little Miss Sunshine” with the Fontana Mummers Community Theater, and they both were involved with the Redland Footlighters Theater too. Sharon graduated in 1965 from Pacific High School, in San Bernadino, CA, with a graduating class of 1500 seniors. Sharon was a respected loan officer in banking and finance. She worked at several banking institutions in CA and IN. She completed many courses in banking and finance from the Institute of Financial Education and Cuna Mortgage Corporation, and the Bank Administration Institute. She joined PEFCU in 1986 and was the director of mortgage lending. She also had her Real Estate License, from Lumbleau Real Estate School in San Bernadino, CA. In her 20’s she was involved with the Junior Women’s Club in Southern California, and was the 1965 beauty queen, crowned Miss Ford Mustang. Sharon was involved with Kiwanis, Toast Masters, and the theater. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. Some of Sharon’s favorite things were vacationing, popcorn, chocolate covered peanuts, Pepsi, slot machines, and ciggies. She was always down for an adventure with her husband. Sharon was a devoted wife and loved him dearly. We are certain he welcomed her into Heaven, with open arms….her big teddy bear, who she said smelled like a cookie. Sharon dearly loved her family. She loved to be with them all for any occasion. They were her life. Sharon & Freddie are together again. Cruising in the Rambler on the way to a drive-in or casino. Dad is our sunshine by day, and mom you are all the stars at night. Forever shining down and guiding our way. We love you forever. Surviving: daughter-Melissa & Jason Walters of Lafayette, daughter-Pamela Downey of West Lafayette, son-Del & Evelyn Downey of Temecula, CA, sister-Karen Mohler of Logansport, sister-Cindy & Dave Goodin of Delphi, sister-Marsha & John Stoner of Delphi, sister-Becky Floyd of Lafayette, brother-Mike Floyd of Lafayette, grandchildren: Adam, Brett, Emily, Shelby, Riley, Ethan W., Ethan D., Max, Keegan, Elanor, & Florence. 7 great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert & Edward Floyd, William “Bill” Mohler, a sister Kathy Ingmire. Services: Visitation will be Saturday from 12pm until her funeral service at 2pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating, burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
