Deanna Whiteman (Pearson)

Deanna Pearson, 86, of Delphi, IN passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at IU Health Arnett.

Deanna was born December 18, 1937 in Lafayette, IN, to the late William Woodrow and Clatia Irene (Kennard) Whiteman. She was a 1956 graduate of Delphi High School and a 1961 graduate of Purdue University. She was a teacher for Rossville School Corporation, teaching Home EC and Physical Ed.

Deanna was a member of the Christian Church in Delphi, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and past officer and member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Deanna enjoyed substitute teaching, Men’s Purdue Basketball and golf. Her true joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. Affectionally known, as “Grandma Dee”, she could be seen attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, she never missed a chance to cheer them on! She was a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her! She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Katrina (husband, Al) Coghill of Monticello and Karla (husband, Nick) Cronk of Lafayette; brother: Douglas (Debra) Whiteman of Delphi; grandchildren: Colin (wife, Jenny) Stauffer, Brianne (husband, Jon) Musser, Sarah (husband, DC) Holihan, Hayes Cronk and Coy Cronk; and great grandson: Carter Stauffer.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and brother Ronald Whitman.

Visitation will be held from 12pm – 2pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Wabash and Erie Canal Interpretive Center in Delphi. Funeral service will begin at 2pm. Interment will follow at Yeoman Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be directed to the Delphi Athletic Association. A Celebration of Life will follow Friday evening from 4pm- 7pm at the Dog House.
