Kathy Buchanan (Freeman)

CAMDEN -- Kathy L. Buchanan Freeman, 59, of 315 E. County Road 300 North, died unexpectedly at 5:37 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Central emergency room.

She was born Oct. 5, 1951, in Delphi, and was the daughter of the late Lincoln and Francis Wert Buchanan. She graduated in 1969 from Delphi High School.

She married Murray A. Freeman in Pavo, Ga., on July 13, 1978, and he survives.

Mrs. Freeman was employed at Wabash National in Lafayette as a parts warehouse clerk and had worked at Ball Corp. in Monticello for a short time and the former Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi for 15 years.

An Army veteran, she served for two years and was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany, as a first sergeant clerk. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and canning, her garden and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving with her husband are her children, twins Christie H. Baumann and Curtis E. Hodge, both of Eden, N.C., and Michelle Pickett of Swansboro, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Humphrey of Delphi; and a brother, David Dean Buchanan (wife: Ella) of Judsonia, Ark.

Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Virginia Freeman of Baconton, Ga.; and 6 grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Friends may call Thursday 5-8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Service there 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Tim Stewart officiating. Burial at Musselman Cemetery, Camden. Memorial contributions to the donor's choice. Online condolences: abbottfuneralhome@frontier.com
