John Buchanan - Class Of 1967

John K. Buchanan, Sr., 62, of Delphi, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at his home.  He had lived in the Delphi community for many years.
   Born Nov. 3, 1947, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Lincoln and Frances Wert Buchanan.
   Mr. Buchanan attended Delphi High School and received his GED there.
   He served in the National Guard from 1965-1966 and also served in the United States Army.
   Mr. Buchanan was an over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years.  He later became a qualified medication assistant and worked at George Davis Manor and St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Lafayette.
   He was a former member of the Delphi Christian Church and was currently a member of the Pittsburg Missionary Baptist Church.
   He was a member of the Carroll County Civil Defense.
   Mr. Buchanan enjoyed listening to music from the 1950s, talking on his ham radio, and spending time with his loving dog, Brutus.
   Surviving are a son, John K. Buchanan Jr. (wife: Carla) of Delphi; a brother, D. Dean Buchanan of Arkansas; two sisters, Barbara Humphrey of Delphi and Kathy Freeman of Camden; and two grand-daughter, Melissa Danielle Buchanan and Misty Dawn Hammond.
    Preceding him in death were a brother, Donald Buchanan and two sisters, Sharon Gibbs and Nancy Cook.
    Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, from 4 p.m. until time of the service at 7 p.m. at Davison Funeral Home in Delphi.  Pastor John Wagner will officiate.  Burial with graveside military rites by the Delphi and Camden American Legions and VFW will follow at Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi.
    Memorials may be made to the American Lung or American Diabetes Associations.
